Close Camps Tote Raffle for United We Dream
Yesterday, a previous ICE detention facility worker in Irwin county Georgia filed a complaint revealing the abuses of ICE at the detention center including that detained immigrant and refugee women were being coerced into mass hysterectomy and forced sterilization. Interviews with women detained at the center include reports of lack of consent, lack of clear info, and many woman who have undergone intense trauma and lasting changes to their reproductive health.
Forced sterilization and reproductive coercion is NOT new in this country. Please take some time to research the Long history of reproductive atrocities on black and brown women in the United States. The ICE’s abuse of immigrant rights has resulted in thousands of deaths. During the pandemic the number of deaths has doubled due to unsanitary conditions and in humane treatment. We must act NOW. This is a human rights issue, a feminist issue, and an anti racist issue.
Kerry Phelan Designs recently raffled off the sustainable ‘close camps’ bag. Asking customers and followers to give $5 to enter the raffle, donating 100% of the proceeds to United We Dream, the largest youth led immigrant network in the country. Through the fundraiser we were able to raise $270 in 24 hours for @unitedwedream

Masks On Masks On Masks | 2,000 To Be Exact !
In March when COVID-19 first struck, like most sewers, I started sewing and donating as many masks as I could to family, friends and healthcare providers. I quickly began using my time and resources to support the Boston community by creating and donating handmade cloth masks. As the pandemic spread, my work grew and before I knew it, I was shipping supplies to hospitals, shelters and essential workers all along the East Coast.
In order to increase production, I started a fundraiser that would allow me to donate one mask for every mask sold. Thanks to this initiative, around 2,000 masks have been donated in the past 5 months to local healthcare providers in the Boston area!
A list of some hospitals and shelters we donated to: Mass General Hospital, Yale New Haven Hospital, Carney Hospital, Boston Children's Hospital, Boston Healthcare for The Homeless, Father Bill's Shelter Quincy, Boston Medical Center, Boston South Shore Hospital, Aspire Health, Beth Israel, Mass Eye and Ear, Santander Bank, Quincy, Tufts Medical, Montilios, Quincy, Many more healthcare providers and essential workers along the East Coast, and Hundreds of BLACK LIVES MATTER masks to protesters in Boston, NYC, Upstate NY, Minneapolis, LA & CT.
